CARRICKACULLION


Location

Carrickacullion is a townland of 89 statute acres, 2 roods and 11 perches a mile and a half south of Newtownhamilton. It is bounded on the north by Ballintemple (Ballymore Parish), on the east and south by Camly Macullagh, and on the west by Tullyvallen.

Name of townland

Carraig an Chuillinn, "the rock of the holly tree" (1).

Griffiths Valuation (1864) records the owner of the townland as James Murphy.

Census of Ireland 1901

The Census enumerated two people in one three roomed slated household.
