(DORSY CAVAN O'HANLON)

Location

Roxborough is a townland of 147 statute acres and 31 perches two miles east of Cullyhanna. It is bounded on the north by Dorsey Mullaghglass and Dorsey Hearty, on the east By Ummeracam Ball (North), on the south by Dorsey and on the west by Finiskin. In the Tithe Applotment Books of 1825 the total area of the townland is shown as 87 acres, 3 roods and 26 perches.

Name of townland

English: The name was formerly 'Dorsey Cavan O'Hanlon'. The name was introduced by Johnston of the Fews as the family had come from Roxbouough in Scotland (1)

Valuation

Although the decimalisation of the currency was introduced only in 1971, all of the valuations in the following table have been converted from £sd for convenience.

Census of Ireland 1901

The Census enumerated 12 people in three households; a ratio of 4 persons per household. One household occupied 9 rooms, one occupied 2 rooms and one occupied a single room. No houses were thatched.
