Known also as "The Giant's Load " this dolmen has a huge 40-tonne capstone balanced on two portal-stones over 2 metres high and a backstone almost 2 metres high. There may not have been other stones to complete the chamber. There are always many pebbles on top of the domed capstone; the story goes that if you throw a stone up and it does not fall then you will be married within 12 months.
It is one of the most photographed in Ireland. It is now surrounded by a golf course.
